The study of the fauna of the Early-Middle Pleistocene of the Upper Jordan Valley aims to provide detailed information on:

  • The distribution of species, their habitat and their biogeographical origin

  • Aspects of how the above data change over time and their contribution to past climatic changes

  • The wider perspective of how these changes relate to contemporaneous faunas in Africa and Europe and to similar ecological and environmental conditions

  • Taphonomic aspects of the faunal assemblages

  • Hominin patterns and strategies related to animal exploitation
