The program of Centers of Excellence was set up by the Israel Science foundation with the intention of supporting exceptionally high standard groups in the universities.

Center's Title

The effect of climate change on the environment and hominins of the Upper Jordan Valley between ca. 800Ka and 700Ka ago as a basis for prediction of future scenarios

  • Various scholars, of four different academic institutions, are involved in a multidisciplinary study designed to reconstruct the effects of climate change on the environment and hominins of the paleo-Lake Hula some 800,000 years ago
  • The long occupational sequence of the Acheulian site of Gesher Benot Ya‘aqov provides unique data which are used in the diverse scientific fields of thisresearch program
